The Foundations of Western Monasticism
Description
Monasticism distills the essence of Catholic spirituality for all time and for all Christians. Foundations of Western Monasticism brings together three of the most influential texts in Church history, providing a definitive review of the principles that govern the interior life: prayer, spiritual combat, contemplation, and humility. By traveling with the three great "Founding Fathers" of the monastic tradition—St. Antony of the Desert, St. Benedict, and St. Bernard of Clairvaux—readers are invited to ascend the heights of personal holiness and wisdom. This volume serves as an essential roadmap for anyone seeking to deepen their commitment to the Faith through the proven, time-tested methods of the masters.
