"The Gothic" Chalice & 6-1/2" Scale Paten with Ring
Description
This beautiful chalice was commissioned under special request by the Vatican as a present to His Holiness, John Paul II to commemorate his 50th anniversary in the priesthood.
The elegant, octagonal Gothic design created by our artistic department was masterfully executed by our silversmiths using sterling silver throughout. The result was impeccable and its generous proportions made it look impressive on the main Altar during the commemorative Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The many requests received by our clients for this chalice moved us to develop a matching Ciboria, open Ciboria and monstrance, thus completing a stunning, full Altar set.
Exquisite deep relief work, depicting the Four Evangelists imbedded into node chapels, Christ and the Twelve Apostles on the cup and a deeply sculptured “Flower of Passion” motif on the base. Chalice and paten made in 925 sterling silver, gold lined.
